Confederate Marker Dedication Ceremony
The John Hunt Morgan Camp August meeting was held in Cave Hill Cemetery, Saturday, August 11th. We gathered to honor Eagle Scout Nathaniel Coleman Ralls. Scout Ralls chose as his Eagle project the restoration of an entire section of 60 CSA grave stones in the Confederate section of Cave Hill Cemetery.
A very nice ceremony was held to rededicate the graves. The SCV presented Scout Ralls with an Eagle Scout Recognition Certificate from SCV International Headquarters. It was a special event.
I'll try to recount the camp members who were present, but I did not take roll, so please excuse me if I happen to omit your presence: Harold Sneed, Gene Wood, David High, Bennett Young, Bob Strange and wife, Forrest Land and wife, Noble Roberts, Ben Kennedy, Bill Hayes, and Mark Hiland with his three sons.
Below are some photos from the event.

Morgan Camp August Meeting
Compatriots and Friends:
The monthly meeting of the John Hunt Morgan Camp will be on Saturday, August 11th, at 11:00 AM at the Confederate section in Cave Hill Cemetery.
We have decided to move the meeting to this date so we can honor Nathaniel Ralls, an Eagle Scout candidate who has completed his Eagle project of straightening and aligning some 60 stones in the Confederate Section. The camp plans on honoring him with a special certificate on that date. Coincidental with our meeting the 5th Ky Inf and 2nd Ky Inf, CSA reenacting groups will be at Cave Hill to provide a color guard and firing squad as they rededicate that section of the cemetery. Cave Hill is printing the program for the event. There should be media present too. In 1984 Nathaniel's father completed a similar project for his path to Eagle Scout. Nathaniel's grandfather, Bill Ralls, is a reenactor in the 5th Ky Inf. This should be a good event. I hope all of you can make it to Cave Hill on Sat, Aug 11th.
A second reminder, Danny Davis will host the "Commander's Luncheon," an informal gathering of compatriots and friends at noon on Friday August 10th, at O'Charley's Restaurant in the Springs shopping center located at the corner of Breckenridge Lane and Dutchmans Lane. We hope to see you there too.

Cave Hill Memorial Day Service
The Memorial Day service at Cave Hill was well attended. U. S. Congressman John Yarmuth was in attendance not only at Cave Hill, but also at the major Memorial Day service at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery latter that day. Again this year, the VA authorized the John Hunt Morgan Camp to decorate the graves of the CSA soldiers buried within the National Cemetery with CSA battle flags. Lee Squires, the superintendent of Cave Hill, also authorized the camp to decorate the CSA graves in the private section of the cemetery. The main speaker was Colonel Leopoldo Quintas, the Regimental Commander of the 16th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Knox, who gave a very touching address.

Confederate Grave Decoration at Cave Hill
Many thanks to the group that helped set the 300+ flags on CSA veteran's graves at Cave Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is beautiful this time of year. Every year the VFW sponsors a very nice Memorial Day service to honor all of the veterans who gave their life in defense and service to their country. May they rest in peace knowing that they will be remembered for the ultimate sacrifice that they gave.
Commander
