Annual Confederate Memorial Day Service

The John Hunt Morgan Camp 1342, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Albert Sidney Johnston Chapter 120, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will hold our Annual Confederate Memorial Day Service on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 11:00 AM in the Pewee Valley Cemetery, located on Maple Lane in Pewee Valley, Kentucky.

Our featured speaker will be SCV member and Past-Commander of the Central Brigade, Curt Carter.  Special guests include Gracey's Battery, who will fire a cannon salute.  Prior to the service, there will be a walk-through tour of the Confederate section of the cemetery at 10:30 AM.

Immediately following the service, the Orphan Brigade Kinfolk Association will hold a luncheon and annual meeting at the nearby St. James Episcopal Church.  Reservations are required to attend the luncheon portion of the meeting.  Contact Alice Bratcher to RSVP.

Morgan Camp May Meeting

Compatriots and Friends:

The John Hunt Morgan Camp will hold its May monthly meeting at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 18th, at South Park Country Club. Lunch or Breakfast menus are available at a very reasonable cost. Please come and join us. We will be greeting two new members; Sean Stafford and Scott Humphreys. We will also finalize plans for the big Pewee Valley event and the decoration of CSA graves in Cave Hill Cemetery for Memorial Day.

South Park Country Club is located at 915 South Park Road in Fairdale. From the Gene Snyder Fwy (841) take Exit 8 onto National Turnpike South. From National Turnpike turn East (left turn) at the stop light onto Fairdale Rd. Just after crossing the railroad tracks there will be a right turn exit ramp onto South Park Road. The entrance to the country club will be on the left just after the the series of 90 degree turns.

H. L. Hunley JROTC Award Presented

Capt. William M. Hayes, USCG (retired) presented the H. L. Hunley JROTC Award to Air Force Junior ROTC Cadet Kennith Keller. Cadet Keller attends Moore Traditional High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon graduation Kennith Keller will be enlisting in the Marine Corps and will attend basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif. The Hunley award is presented to the Cadet who most demonstrated the core values of honor, courage, and in particular commitment to his JROTC unit during the school year. The award was sponsored by the John Hunt Morgan Camp and presented by Camp Adjutant, Bill Hayes.
